Mrs. Shultz’s Blog

I have set up a blog hopefully to interact with my students and their parents. I also look forward to giving parents more of an insight into their child’s life while they are at school. I hope to use this blog as another communication tool. I will be posting important information and reminders for parents and my students as well as talk about fun things that happen in our classroom. I invite my students and parents to read and enjoy this blog.

I am beginning my forth year of teaching second grade at CAL. I am originally from Kennesaw, Ga. My husband and I moved here 3 years ago so he could attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He will be graduating in December with his PhD in Sytematic Theology!!! We have a beautiful 1 year old brittany named Sawyer that we adore. We attend a wonderful church here where I teach a 2 and 3 year olds Sunday School class. I am so grateful for all the opportunities the Lord has given my husband and I here and we love living in Louisville. Teaching is a huge part of my life and I know I am doing what the Lord wants me to do. There is no better place to be than to be in God’s will for your life. He is my great provider, comforter and friend!!!

The Lord has blessed me with such an amazing class this year. I love what I do and I just want to thank Him for placing me in this position. I want to share why I decided to become a teacher. I grew up in a church that had missionaries in and out all the time. I have listened to literally hundreds of missionary stories and have seen God’s hand in so many of their journies all over the world. When I was 17 years old a missionarty couple came to my church and shared their testimony and also shared about their work on the field. They talked about how they had started a school in Portugal. This was a school for orphans and they shared how God had provided in so many ways for that school and those children. At the end of their testimony they showed a video that included pictures and actual video footage. At the end of the video the children  were singing in English the song “Thank you for Giving to the Lord… I am a life that was changed.” At that moment I was in tears and I felt the Lord telling me “Kristin I am calling you to teach children and I want you to help change the lives of children.”  Ever since that day He has provided everything that I have needed to become a teacher. I trust in God’s plan and I know that he was talking about your children the day that he called me to be a teacher. They weren’t even born yet, but God’s plan is sufficient. He has placed your children in my class for this time in their lives and I will do my best in His power to be a good teacher to them. I love teaching, interacting with children, watching their minds grow and mature academically but most of all I love watching their relationship with God mature and grow throughout the year. I am looking forward to a great year full of exciting journies. What a wonderful start we have had. My students are great and so full of life. They make my job so fufilling. I hope the Lord uses me to help mold their sweet minds more into His image.
